As well as making an annual donation to The Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity, RAOTW also help out with support for local causes in and around Easingwold

New Stage Lighting for The Galtres Centre

Many of you will no doubt be aware of the fantastic facilities offered by The Galtres Centre in Easingwold, especially the GEC theatre. Rockin’ All Over The Wold co-organiser, Richard Tanfield, has been putting his technical talents to use as a volunteer at the GEC for a few years now and has updated the stage lighting system in the theatre.

Part of this involved testing out new lighting control systems as the existing lighting desk in the theatre was starting to become a museum piece. Richard eventually chose a virtual lighting desk from Chamsys which runs on a computer and provides all of the functions of a real desk, without the hefty price tag.

The software also has a 3D virtual theatre programmed into it, so programming a light show can be done almost anywhere as the results can be seen immediately in the virtual GEC theatre on the computer screen.

Richard has been keen to put on more live music at the GEC and has spent many hours up a ladder rigging and updating the lighting rig above the stage and auditorium to facilitate this. He has also created joint musical ventures between the Galtres Centre and RAOTW which raises funds for the main RAOTW event and also for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity.

RAOTW have also donated six new Eliminator Lighting Stinger moving head spotlights to the GEC. The heads provide a new dimension to the light shows with moving beams and various effects. Those of you who attended the recent Abba tribute gig will have seen the new lighting in action.

New Banner for Easingwold Primary School

The staff and children of Easingwold Primary School are very grateful to Rockin’ all Over the Wold for funding a school banner for them to use at the various events they attend.

The banner was presented in assembly on Friday 9th February 2024 by Richard Graves and Richard Tanfield and will have its first outing when the KS2 children attend Young Voices at Sheffield Arena after half term.

RAOTW have donated £500 to Easingwold Primary School to allow them to buy more musical instruments.

Easingwold Community Primary SchoolThey now have enough glockenspiels so that a whole class can play together and an array of ethnic musical instruments to give them opportunities to experiment with sounds and music from different cultures. In addition, a class set of recorders have been purchased so that all are able to learn a tuned wind instrument and also a larger selection of boomwackers (hollow tuned tubes you can hit on surfaces to create sounds) which are particularly good for younger children.

RAOTW donated £250 towards the running costs of Easingwold Community Library. The library is now run by a group of volunteers and continues to grow from strength to strength.
